I expected great things of it, not the least because it had been recommended, back at school, by my beloved and … Loved the setting and atmosphere of the story but it was the main character Smilla that I wanted to get to know.

The plot seemed complex and muddled at times. She embarks on a dangerous quest to find the truth, following a path of clues as clear to her as footsteps in the snow. And none of our members enjoyed it and none of them understood the ending either. The writing is good. The main character was one tough cookie but not infallible and not ridiculously infallible. The right up of this book was what attracted me to read this book, other than the fact it was recommended at book club. Please try your request again later.
